Benefits of Castor Oil for Cleansing

· for face

Castor oil has many benefits that make it useful for skin and hair care. It is rich in nutrients that improve skin health. The various therapeutic effects of castor oil are good for repairing and healing skin damage. It has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe swelling. Its antibacterial properties, on the other hand, prevent infection and other types of skin damage.

Castor Oil for Face Cleansing

One of the popular uses of castor oil nowadays is for oil cleansing. It has the perfect consistency and thickness for oily skin. It has drying abilities that control oil production. While it may seem that it’s harmful for skin to use an oil, it is actually helpful. Castor oil for face cleansing dissolves the impurities that clog the pores to lift them up.

Dead skin cells, dirt, bacteria, and excess oil, can build up on the surface of skin to block hair follicles. This causes inflammation below the surface, which may feel painful at times. Worse cases often lead to the development of acne, a skin condition that can spread. Castor oil kills bacteria and treats acne and other types of skin conditions. The moisturizing properties of the oil are good for regulating oil production.

What’s more, it has antioxidants that slow down skin aging. Face cleansing is a great way to detoxify skin and stimulate cell renewal.

How to Cleanse Face with Castor Oil

Here are the steps in face cleansing:

Materials:

  • Bowl of hot water
  • Clean towel
  • 3-4 tablespoons of castor oil
    • For dry and normal skin, mix oil with lighter carrier oils to dilute it.

Procedure:

  1. Take the bowl of hot water and face your face above just enough to let the steam reach your face. This will help open up your pores. Place a towel above your head to create a cover that traps the steam. Do this for 15-20 minutes. Make sure not to place you face closer to the water to avoid being burned or feeling suffocated.

  2. Use a small amount of oil in palm and rub hands together. The heat will improve the ability of the oil to lift away the dirt that may clog the pores. Massage your face using circular motions. Do this for 2-3 minutes. Let the oil sit on face for five minutes.

  3. Use a clean towel and soak it partially to hot water. Remove excess water and use the damp towel to get rid of the oil on skin. Notice that there will be a light oily feeling left on skin. Follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove this residue. You can do this at night so you can skip the second cleansing. Instead, the oil will help moisturize your skin all throughout the night.

Do this regularly to help improve the health of the skin. It is recommended for daily use or every other day. Oil cleansing with castor oil is good for removing makeup too. It will get rid of stubborn makeup and any formula that may be clogging the pores.
